I’m Philip Lawton, and I’ve been doing professional transposition, piano reductions and other music copying for singers, accompanists and other classical musicians since 2008.
My transpositions have been on the music stands (and CDs!) of Iestyn Davies, Ian Bostridge, Angelika Kirchschlager, Simon Keenlyside, Joan Rodgers, Julius Drake, Simon Lepper, James Baillieu, and many others.
As a professional copyist, rather than an automatic computer program, my transpositions are quality-controlled: strange modulations are re-written, leger-lines corrected with a change of clef, and everything cleaned-up – I try to make each transposition reflect the layout of the original as much as possible.
“Philip’s transpositions of works for me, including Haydn, Liszt and modern songs, are of the highest quality. I can always trust he will deliver exactly what I need, when I need it.”
– Angelika Kirchschlager
“Julius Drake and I have used Philip Lawton’s transposition service for many years now, and it has been a boon”
– Ian Bostridge
